My lawn makes me sad, but my little garden in the back is growing really well. Let me know if you would like more information, and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SparkleClarkle\/status\/1288291470580080640?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">how many hours you have to talk about it<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the meantime, here are some things I really enjoyed this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>I am currently obsessed with the <strong>Nintendo <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/2020\/7\/26\/21339018\/nintendo-gigaleak-super-mario-64-zelda-pokemon-what-is-it-snes\" target=\"_blank\">Gigaleak<\/a><\/strong>. Obsessed with the Gigaleak, especially the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/dylancuthbert\/status\/1286789583061934080?s=21\" target=\"_blank\">debug tools<\/a> and <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/2020\/7\/26\/21339018\/nintendo-gigaleak-super-mario-64-zelda-pokemon-what-is-it-snes\" target=\"_blank\">early development artifacts<\/a>. It&#8217;s especially cool seeing how the sausage of my youth was made. That&#8217;s a weird sentence to type.<\/li><li>Matthew Ball wrote up a long piece about how <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.matthewball.vc\/all\/onnintendo\" target=\"_blank\">we shouldn&#8217;t compare Nintendo&#8217;s apparent strategy to Disney&#8217;s &#8220;Disney as a Service&#8221; strategy<\/a>. It&#8217;s <em>similar<\/em>, but not the same because <strong>Nintendo is Nintendo<\/strong> (and is happy about it).<\/li><li>The NYTimes has a pretty good series about how people spend their Sundays. <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2018\/01\/12\/nyregion\/how-50-cent-rapper-and-actor-spends-his-sundays.html\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>50cent&#8217;s sunday routine<\/strong> is work, workout &#8230; and more work.<\/a><\/li><li><strong>Free Seed With (No) Purchase: <\/strong>E-Comm is a rough-and-tumble business, and scammers will do anything (including <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.boston.com\/news\/local-news\/2020\/07\/29\/massachusetts-seeds-mail\" target=\"_blank\">mailing random people random seeds that they didn&#8217;t order<\/a>) just to trick the algorithms into promoting their stores. <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2020\/07\/30\/what-is-brushing-scam-china-mystery-seeds\/\" target=\"_blank\">It&#8217;s called &#8220;brushing&#8221;<\/a>.<\/li><li>Most of the Deadspin writers quit last year, but have combined forces again to create <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/defector.com\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Defector<\/strong><\/a>. It&#8217;s got a cool business model, and a writer-first culture &#8211; <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2020\/07\/28\/business\/media\/deadspin-staffers-start-defector.html\" target=\"_blank\">including the ability to change the editor-in-chief at any time with a 2\/3 vote<\/a>. I&#8217;m going to wait to see what their hockey coverage is like before throwing my money at them.<\/li><li>Speaking of: <strong>hockey&#8217;s back, baby!<\/strong>\u00a0The NHL is kicking off their playoffs in two Canadian bubbles. <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/theathletic.com\/1957759\/2020\/07\/28\/marcus-foligno-wild-diary-inside-the-bubble-edmonton\/\" target=\"_blank\">And it sounds perfectly fine.<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s been insanely hot here this week.
