- Tech
- Messaging: I’ve always had a weird obsession with email, text messaging and instant messaging. iMessage is the perfect personal messaging platform for me.
- Connected Home: We recently bought a house and the idea of controlling (and reporting on) everything from a centralized, smart hub is really interesting to me.
- Design
- Home design: We recently bought a renovated farm house, and finally have the ability to do whatever we want to it. We’re working on designing and building our dream kitchen.
- Uniform design: Team uniforms are the strongest and most visible form of brand design for a sports franchise. Combined with the rise of HD Televisions and more sports broadcasts than ever before, uniform and jersey design have started becoming a recruitment technique for colleges, which is fascinating.
- Workplace Culture and Management
- Employee Retention: As a manager, your #2 responsibility is retention. Since employees quit managers (not company), I want to make sure my employees continue coming to work with me.
- Personal Finance
- Budgeting and Family Cash Flow Management: I was in terrible financial shape coming out of college. Since then, I’ve found ways to organize my personal finances for the short term and stick to a budget. I’m working on collecting my processes, rules and spreadsheets into a digestible format that others can learn from.
- Value Investing: Sometimes referred as “The Buffett Way of Investing” or “Rule 1 Investing”, the idea of spending a large amount of time researching to buy a small amount of companies for the long-term feels like the right way of spending money. I’m currently working towards making my first company purchase.
Additionally, I’ll always be obsessed with hockey and college football. In particular:
- Oklahoma State: My alma mater.
- Boston Bruins: Season ticket holder since before they were good.
